My passion is bodywork. I have been
in the health and bodywork field for twelve years and
still can't picture another profession I would rather
be in.
My education in exercise science provided
me with a bridge into the health and wellness field. I was
Health Director and instructor for various ages.
This experience led me into the education and training
of Massage Therapy applied to the rehabilitation field.
I enjoyed working with athletes and amateur athletes as
part of their training program. I loved working with the
how and why of the muscles and how they functioned and
recovered.
Discovering Brain Therapy
At this point I wanted to learn
more about how the body functions as a unit.
I wanted to understand more about the body systems and
how each one directly impacts the other. This interest
led me directly to the Brain Therapy training, research
project and, ultimately, certification.
Little did I know that this would open up a whole new
practice.
Brain Therapy gave me the education about what fascia
is, how fascia works, and how interconnected fascia is
with the amplitude and function of the Craniosacral System.
Blending the therapies together -- fascia unwinding and
craniosacral unwinding at the same time -- showed me the
importance of each one and their dependence on one another.
You wouldn't wear just one shoe. You would wear two for
more stability and performance. Why wouldn't you want
to treat both systems for overall body performance, recovery,
and health?
Expanding My Practice
By expanding my training to now include Brain Therapy
my clientele has gone through its own expansion.
I now have the honor of treating
newborns, toddlers, and children with various chronic
conditions, which I never had before.
I have been able to open my own office within a Wellness
Center instead of working for someone else. This is a
blessing, now that I am a mother because I have a flexible
schedule.
My own experience with birth and recovery has given me
such insight and experience. I carry this with me into
my office when treating expectant mothers and newborns.
Every birth, no matter the circumstance, is precious.
And so is the recovery and bonding experience for both
mother and child.
More Children In My Practice
My practice is now 50 percent
children with a growing percentage of special needs children
as well.
Primarily, I am referred clients by Nutritional Consultants,
Chiropractors, Speech/Language Specialists, Physical Therapists,
Massage Therapists, Birth Doulas, and Lactation Consultants,
and, of course, mothers.
To look back and see the progress of my experience and
training leading up to the level of bodywork I now am
able to provide is wonderful.
To see my clientele expanding to now include expectant
mom's, newborns, toddlers, children, and adults with various
chronic issues has been an honor.
To see them all improve in varying
degrees is humbling.
It is my deepest intention to continue expanding my knowledge
and experience in the bodywork field and to continue to
be an instrument of healing for those who enter my office.
