Scoliosis
And Brain Therapy
© 2005 Dr. Barry R. Gillespie
Spinal curvature can be chronically
painful and emotionally debilitating.
For the moderate cases, the medical model may
take a wait-and- see attitude. For the advanced cases steel
rods may be surgically placed in the spine.
This article will review Brain Therapy in relation
to clients with spinal curvature (scoliosis, lordosis, and
kyphosis).
Correcting My Own Scoliosis
When I found out that I had scoliosis, my first reaction
was what could I do to correct it.
“You are thirty-three. There is nothing you can
do but just live with it,” said the doctor.
Even through I started at an older age to correct scoliosis,
I am living proof that certain therapies can help the body
heal itself.
After I had years of treatment on a weekly basis, I found
out what the cause was. The shots into my muscles from the1940s
and 1950s glued my fascial system. The vaccines that twisted
the pelvis, spine, and cranium created fascial strain patterns.
At the time penicillin was given by shots, creating even
more tissue restriction and distortion. Shots were given into
my deltoids, and the chemical residue traveled into my shoulders
and down my back, settling in the erector spinae muscles.
Since these drugs are given unnaturally, the body has no
way to easily eliminate them. They get stuck in the fascial
web, and even with years of therapy, are recalcitrant in leaving
the body.
From all of the physical suffering that I have had in this
lifetime, I can honestly say that if I were being born today,
I would not want my parents to approve any vaccines for me.
I would want homeopathic immunizations and take my chances.
The curse of my lifetime has been to battle scoliosis due
to the modern medical marvels of the mid-twentieth century.
Treatment For Scoliosis
At A Young Age
Hopefully, when you start treating someone with scoliosis,
they are young in age, the younger the better.
She must understand that Brain Therapy gradually releases
the body over time. So every week the body is in a slightly
different position. Clinically it creates different pain patterns
and conditions from week to week.
Correcting Scoliosis
In An Adult
For years I could have gone to the doctor every week with
a different complaint. I never took medication for it because
I felt that no drug would ever correct the problem and only
create side effects. Also, I wanted to have my body clear
so I could deal with the painful areas as they came up, and
not mask them with painkillers.
For me scoliosis correction was years of pain and changing
symptoms. After a while you quietly accepted it, but after
about ten years into it, I emotionally cracked from this quiet
denial. Something undeniably hurt every day.
But thanks to the people who administered these therapies,
I gradually came out of it. Today, my body feels much freer
with only a slight amount of drugs stuck in the fascia. I
don’t know how my life would be today without touch
therapies.
Craniosacral therapy was important because of the misalignment
in both the pelvis and cranium.
When we think of scoliosis, we tend to focus on the spine.
On more reflective thought the curvature goes all through
the body.
My intolerable sinus problem was partially due to distorted
sinus bones (vomer and ethmoid bones). If the pelvis and spine
are curved, would you expect the cranium to be symmetrical?
As the cranial and sacral areas responded fairly quickly,
the spine was another story.
The fascial and muscle work done here was difficult and
slow going in progress. When the fascial strain patterns reached
a still point, the drugged fascia would not cleanly release.
When the muscle work was done, the tissue was very fibrous
and dehydrated. The entire myofascial complex was stuck with
chemicals, and had no intention of letting go.
At one point I developed large red welts in my gluteal areas.
I remember when I was five I would get penicillin shots in
my gluteal muscles. They were stuck in the tissues for 40
years and finally came out with therapy. Eliminating the penicillin
was difficult, because I eventually became allergic to it
in my twenties.
When it came out of my system, I would react by getting very
lethargic and losing my appetite. Fortunately antibiotics
are not given intramuscularly today. But at least twenty-three
vaccines are given to children.
After what I have been through in my lifetime, I do not even
want to think about how all of these chemicals are affecting
the fascial system of today’s children.
When I see a client today and hear the word “scoliosis”
in the history, I have a lot of empathy. A flash of not so
pleasant scenarios crosses my mind.
In my journey I have researched everything, and
I believe that Brain Therapy is the best answer that we
have today. It can be a long haul, and the trip may not
be pleasant, but the ending can be happy.
We as healthcare professionals can help many children with
spinal curvature. I strongly recommend taking a picture on
the evaluation visit where you have colored each vertebra
with washable magic marker. Taking pictures over time like
this is a great way to measure their progress.
Please consider Brain Therapy when clients present with
scoliosis.
